Creating Products

Learn how to create new products in your catalog, including all the basic information needed to get started.

Overview

Creating a product is the first step in building your product catalog. You'll provide basic information like the product name, description, image, type, and pricing. Once you save the product, you can configure additional settings like locations, categories, and attributes.

Product Types

Before creating a product, it's important to understand the different product types available:

Item

Physical products or products that require inventory tracking. Examples: hair products, beauty supplies, retail items.

Features:

  • Stock/inventory tracking
  • Can be displayed in webshop
  • No appointment booking required

Session (Treatment)

Services or treatments that require appointments. Examples: haircuts, massages, facials, consultations.

Features:

  • Requires Session Flow configuration
  • Can be booked through booking widget
  • Employee assignment available
  • Duration-based scheduling

Note: Session products require a Session Flow to be configured. You'll be notified if a Session product doesn't have a flow set up.

Other

Any other type of product that doesn't fit the above categories.

Gift Card

Gift cards that customers can purchase and redeem.

Important: You can only change the product type when first creating the product. Once saved, the type cannot be changed.

Tips and Best Practices

Product Names

  • Use clear, descriptive names that customers will understand
  • Keep names concise but informative
  • Be consistent with naming conventions across similar products
  • Include key information (e.g., "Haircut - Short Hair" vs. just "Haircut")

Product Images

  • Use high-quality images that clearly show the product or service
  • Square images work best for the circular display
  • Keep file sizes reasonable for faster loading
  • Show the product or service in use when possible

Pricing

  • Use Fixed Price for products with a set cost
  • Use Starting Price for services where the final price may vary based on customer choices
  • Always include tax information for accurate pricing
  • Consider your market positioning when setting prices

Product Types

  • Choose the correct type from the start (it cannot be changed later)
  • Use Item for physical products you sell
  • Use Session for services that require appointments
  • Use Gift Card for gift card products
  • Use Other only when none of the above fit
